DBPAHTURE FROM RANGIOIiA. Intenso interest was muuiiested m the leave-taking of the JNortii Canterbury Section ot the 13th Regiment at llaiigiora last evening, saving received their oquipment, and undergoing inspection by Colonel Richardson, seven-ty-two men marched to the train, practically the whole town followed the band and military to tiie railway station. Hero Lieut.-Colonel the Key. H\ V. Fendall and other local officers were present to take leave of the men. "The British Grenadiers",- and other music was played by tho band. H From a motor-car, tae Mayor (Mr C. 1. Jennings), who was received wiUi hearty, cheers, in saying good-bye, said it was with the fervent hope that lie would later offer a hearty' welcome on the return of the men.' (Cheers.) Mc referred to the regrettable war, provoked needlessly by Germany, and the admirable resistance t>y Belgium— (three cheers were given for Belgium)— till France could get into action. (Loud chers for Franece.) Tho men of the colonies had proved their mettle in South Africa—(cheers) —and could be depended upon, to maintain the prestige of tho Dominion in the present trouble. (Loud cheers.) The men were to be under Lord Roberts—(cheers and cries of "Good Old Bobs!") —and he (the Mayor) wished the God of Battles and Peace would Vwotect them. For tho citizens he wished tho men all that could bo wished for their welfare, and acded that their local friends would watch anxiously for news and results. (Renewed cheen'mr •
