(Before .Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. _ Five first offenders wero each fined os, in default 2-1 hours in gaol. VAGRANCY. Chas. Horberi Page admitted being an idle and disorderly person, without sufficient visible means of auonort. Accused was remanded till Saturday, in order to allow tho polico to endeavour to get him into a Home. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop. S.M.) JUDGMENT BY DEFAULT. Judgment was given for the plaintiff by default in the following undefended oases:—Ridlev and Co., Ltd.. v. P. Walsh. 10s 10d- H. McMillan v. F. Hoolo, £1 17s 9d;. H. Manhiro v. Georgo Fuller. £14 12s 3d; Maling and Co. v. G. H. Smith. £2 16s 6d; H. C. Godfrey and Co. v. Andrew Carstairs, £10 15s lOd; Bell Bros. v. A. Thomson, £2. RENTING A SHOP. Thos. Edward Loach (Mr Salter) claimed £-i 7s from Wm. H. Gulliver (Mr Johnston) for rent of a shop in Papanui road. Tlie plaintiff's case wiis that defendant, a bootmaker, rented this shop from plaintiff as it was only a fow doors away from his. and bo had heard that another bootmaker coming into it. It was alleged that defendant agreed to pay los a week for tho shop until he got a tenant for it. When a tenant was found the rent was to bo 16s 6d per. week. In giving evidence, defendant said that ho had'only agreed to find' a tenant for tbe shop on condition that plaintiff would not 'et it to a bootmaker. He had repeatedly repudiated plaintiff's claim for rent. ' * Judgment tva.- for plaintiff for the amount claimed and costs.
