CASUALTIES.

A SERIOUS COLLISION. The officer in charge of the police station at Rakaia received word yesterday that a somewhat serious collision had occurred on Wednesday night near. Mitcham, on the Methven branch lino, through a pony and gig and a motorcar coming into collision. A man named McPhail was driving on tho road accompanied by a boy, when the ir.otor-car ran into the gig. McPhail anil tho boy wero thrown out, and landed ten yards away from tho pony andgiy. Tlie pony's ieg was broken and the shafts of the gig were smashed. The motor-car afterfrurds passed over the boy. McPhail, who was driving without a light, escaped with a shaking, but tho boy was seriously hurt. It is not known who tho driver of the motor-car was, .as ho proceeded on his journey without stopping, to ascertain what* damago had been done.

Yesierday afternoon, at Charteris Bay, an inquest, touching the death of Frank Bradley, .who died suddenly near tho Lytteltou Golf Club's links on Wednesday, was held before Mr H. .W. Bishop, District Coroner. Dr.. Ujiham stated, that tho. cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage, and a verdict was returned to that effect.
