THE SEYEX-.A-eiDi: TOVRX *-3tEXT. TO THE EDITOR OF "THE I'RESS." Sir,—Tho referee's decision in tho final of the senior sevon-a-gidc, in uot declaring 'Varsity the winners when, in the third tpell," Christ-church either grounded or held oil to the ball over tho line, cannot be considered as correct. I'happened to hear tho referee discussing tho niatter after the game. When told that the Christchureh player did ground tho ball, the referee replied to this eifect: —"Why, I heard the Christchurch playor say. "You.don't catch''trie putting the ball down.'" Very well, then, the referee has conthat particular player wilfully hung on to tho ball, and should havo awarded the niatch_ to 'Var'ity. No ono grudges the Christchurch team a win. but unc" r tho circumstances I think the match should bo played again-—¥'*"-« pNv. • * . ■ ■ SQUARE DEAL.
