LEESTON.
The nrise and piano funds of tho Leeston'public school have been swelled to the extent of-about £5 by the proceeds from an entertainment given by the State Exnress Picture Company. The Lcoston" School Committee met on Monday evening, when there were present :-Mr F. B. Clausen (chairman), Revs. W\ Grigg (secretary), and K. M. Blair, Messrs T. J. Gilbert, 1.. J. Kamsevand E.Lloyd. The headmaster reported tlmt the number of children on the roll on May 80th was 94 (41 boys and 53 girls), and that the tendance for the month was 80. lho medical inspector. 3>r. Bake*, had visited the school on May 2/th. llio caretaker sent in his resignation owing to his denarture from the district, aud it was decided to invite fresh applications for the position.
