HALSWELL.
Tho scholars attending the Halswell school met at 9 a.m. on the J*ing;s Birthday, and they were lined up in front of tho flag. One oi the fifth standard R irls played the .''British Grenadiers" and "Rule Britannia while the flag was unfurled. Ibe children saluted, sang "Three Cheers for the Red, White and 81ue.." aud gave three cheers for the King. They then marched into the school, and sang "Rule Britaunin" and other patriotic songs. The chairman of the School Committee delivered an address, pointin"- out the reasons why JEmpire Day should be observed. The ceremony concluded with "God Save the King.
