SOUTHBRIDGE.
The Rev. H. G. Hawkins presided at the monthly meeting of the Southbndgo District High School Committee ami there were also present:—-Messrs l<,. A. Inwood, It, Howe, H. Sutton, M. Curran and R. H. B. Willis (sec-| retary). The headmaster reported that the average weekly roll in the primary department wa s 156.7, and tnat in tho 'secondary department 30.1-. Eleven scholars of the primary department had been withdrawn owing to the departure from the district of threo families, while in the secondary department there had been ono withdrawal. Six frcwh pupils had, however, been admitted in the primary department. The technical dressmaking classes • had opened with pleasing prospects, and tho "master considered that cookery classes could also be run successfully. The proDosal to form a men's club in Southbridge has been taken up very enthusiastically, and altogether over sixty young men have signified their intention of joining tho organisation. It is expected that this number will tx> ©till further augmented. A sab-committee has been set ui> to go into the question of procuring literature and suitable parlowr games, and it has been suggested that the club should i meet on three ovenings i» each week. Several residents have promised to assist tho proposed club in providing games, etc.
