There was a credit balance of £680 15s mi the district fund account and a credit' balance of £22 lis 8d on the No. -9 loan .account. Accounts amounting to £226 3s Id were passed for payment. ... Referring to the office for' Riccaxton; 'Mr, Geo." Witty. M.P., in, a letter, promised l the matter his attention. The Chief Postmasterat Christchurch wrote that for a considerable time a telephone office was opened at Lower Riccarton, and it was owing to tho fact that nobody could be induced to retain chargo of the position tKat'tho'offico had been closed, , A slot telephone was considered .'sufficient to meet all/ requirements for the present. The, letter further asked that in the event of the office 4 being re-established, wonH ; the Town Clerk be permitted to act as telephonist'?"Tho'Council decided- to defer consideration of this proposal, until the new Council Chambers are .erected. • Consideration of the report" of tha committee set up to consider the ques-. .tion of street-widening was deferred until the next meeting. . '" «The committee proposed that a bylaw'should be drawn up and passed bo regulate the buildinc: line on all streets less than a chain in width. ■ Councillor E. 3. .Foster moved, in accordance.with- notice of. motion,- that in view of the altered conditionsnecessitating tho Borough of Riccarton to be specially rated to provide for the upkeep of the Christchurch Domain, the resolution passed at a preinous meeting of the Council, to keep the grass cut.down in Hagloy Park in the everit of the fences round tho Park being removed, be rescinded. The resolution was adopted.
