AVON ELECTORATE.

MR H. D. ACLAND A CANDIDATE

A meeting of the Linwood Branch of tho Avon Reform Lcar-uo was held on Friday night, in the Rolleston --.treat hall. Tho president, Mr Walter Hill, presided ovef a _;ood attendance, included over a dozen ladies.

Mr H. D. Acland. in tbe course of a short speech, announced that he would bo a candidate for the Avon seat mi th? interests of th-.-* Coyer-incut. Tho announcement was received with applause. A motion was carried unanimously that all present form themselves into o. committco to work in the interests of Mr Acland to secure his return at the next general election. About -50 names were handed in, and arrangements were made- to map out the district.

Other meetings will.ho held in various parts of the electorate and committees formed.
