The Rev. J. R. Burgin, chairman of the Ashburton Borough School Committee, has received a reply from the Board of Education to the effect that *^ c strongly-worded resolution passed at the annual meeting of householders "-"S-ng the necessity of a new school would receive careful consideration. Owing to the difficulty of obtaining a secretary or local official for organising work in an honorary capacity. It was decided at a special meeting of tho Ashburton branch.of the Navy League * ll n /?u c - r of tlie Branch to the Chnstghmth Centre, provision
to be made for a portion of the Branch's assets to be devoted ___ for prizes for essay competitions on Navy League subjects in the schools of tho Ashburton district.
