RANGIORA.
f The annual meeting of St. John the Baptist Church, Rangiora, was weil attended. The vicar, the Rev. F. P. Fendall, who presided, reviewed the i work done during tho year. He referred to the improvements that had been made', Very good work had boeu done by tho choir and organist, and the lay readers had rendered him great assistance. Ho pointed out that tho church and parish room required pointing, and suggested that a fund should be opened to defray tho cost of doing it. The report of the Vestry stated that the envelope system had worked well during the year, and had resulted in an increase or £36 in tho. offertories. Improvements to the organ had cost £34, and that sum had been raised by tho organist, Mr Jordan. It was proposed to establish a Parish Council, to be composed of equal numbers of men and women; who would assist in managing the affairs of the church. The balancesheet and report wero adopted. The Vicar nominated Mr E. R. Good as his warden, and -Mr D. Mehrtens was reelected people's warden. The following were elected vestrymen for the yoar:— Messrs Van Asch. 11. Walker, J. Pearce, 31. Wridit. W. E. Baiton, ■F. B. Glasgow. W. Hamilton, H. J. Savory, A. E. Goldins;, and C. C. Patierson. It.was decided to adopt tho suggestion to elect a Parish Council, and ten ladies were elected to act with the Vestry. They were:—Mesdames Fendall, Hunter. Pearce, Fear, Barton Van Asch, Shankland, Burnett, Jordan* and Tutton. A motion was passed affirming tho desirability of giving the lady members the right to vote at parish meetings; also ono in favour of the object of the Bib!o-in-Schools League.
