THE CREDIT SYSTEM.
TO THE'EDITOR OK "THL PRESS."
Siri —A few linos on tho credit system. Our old people as a rule were satisfied if they got clothing that looked well, and of course were of good quality. They did not want too many suits, knowing that, they could only wear one suit at a time. The result was that when the suit was worn out-it was paid for. When building a house in those days, if four rooms were enough, eight were not built, but the four rooms added to as required. If, for instance, the person nest door had a tiled roof on their house, the other person was not going to pujl tho shingles off his house to beat the party who had got ahead of him in a way. Consequently the old plodders v if not rich, have at least a homo which is their own. In conclusion, Sir, the few lines as under may apply to the credit system: There was an old proverb ■ and quite true, Do unto your neighbour as you would wish "your neighbour to do unto you. .; But now it'is another of quite, a different line: Bo sure and have your neighbour, or else your neighbour will, have you. Yours, etc., THE NATIVE.
