THE WHAREUI SCHOOL BAZAAR.

TO THE EDITOR OF "THE TRESS."

Sir, —I wish with your permission to reply to the anonymous letter in oon'nexfon with the Wharenui School, and at tho same tiruo to correct tioruc misstatements. It is very evident irom the very small knowledge that "Annoyed has of tho particulars of tno subsidy that ho has never been near the school to learn what was going on or to assist in any way tho committee aud the householders who were working so hard in tho interest of the echoo-l. Now, as to the misstatements: In the first place , it was the School Comnrittee who made the' offer of £100. ; to the Board of Education, and it was tho Board that displayed all the eagerness in accepting. 1 am pleased to be ablo to say that tho old committee, with the generous assistance of tho householders, fulfilled their obligation beforo leaving office. A rough statement was preseated at.-the-..'annual:-.meeting,; ;of householders, showing' the' "position then. It was impossible* to-do otherwise then, as the ground'was-planted in potatoes. ;Tho.potatoes are non r out of the .CTOivnd. and when .disposed of, and the grcySisd l laid out andplarit&d as planned, I can '-•?. duly audited'; ' will i)p forthcoming. Tbe'bazaar Dalance4sheet has been held over owing to the fact tfiat ever eince tho bazaar, funds have been dribbling in from the sale of floods unsold'at the bazaar. The money is practically, 'all in hand now, and for the benefit of those--who have worked, I can assure'you that a'meeting'is to bo held early next; week to present tho balance-eheet. I think you wall, agree that it would have been far'uio're*"uribiisinessl'ke for the committee to have brought forward a balance-sheet when Miere were etill a lot of funds outstanding. In conclusion. I would say that at any future function of tne sort held at *:he sfbool wo" would-be ■ very p;lad to "Annoyed"- co^e'along and frive ■is hi': assir-tfince, and I can assure him 'iq will find it much harrier work thau l o stand on one wbile the wo'rlc 's beine'clone and then throw stone*-at "■hc-se who liavo been giving up thfir "iiie ani money in the intorest of the school.—Yours, etc.. •
