DUNEDIN, May 16. The Hon. J. A. Millar's retirement from public life is definite. In a letter to a Dunedin friend to hand to-day he says:—"l am sorry to havo to leaTt. the old place, where my boyhood days wero spent, and my lifo friendships formed, but fate has decreed it, so I must accept. I know by little things which tako place now and again that I could not stand tho strain of an election contest, so I havo decided to nurse whatever health is left to mc."
