"LIBERALISM" IN TARANAKI
A REPLY TO MR FORBES.
(STECIAL TO "THE I'EESS.")
WANGANUI, May 17. A good deal of amusement is* expressed in tho Taranaki district concerning some of tho remarks mado by Mr Forbes, ALP., ono of the "flying squadron," at Christchurch, concerning; Liberal prospects in Taranaki. Mr Forbess statement that "Taranaki is more Liberal in feeling to-day than it has been for many years," may bo an opinion he gained whon "living through." but it is not tho opinion of Taranaki people, who are able to ga .go the position more accurately. It is contrary to fact to say that there is a revulsion of feeling. Tho "Herald," in tho coarse of » criticism, confirms this when it says:—"There are, in spite of the 'flying souadronV visit, no indications at. all in Taranaki that political feeling .a* swung back to tho Liberal side."
