GENERAL MERCHANDISE.
Tea, Indian.—A moderate quantity at auction. Tone distinctly firmer. Common tea nearly id per lb dearer. Ceylon: A moderato quantity at auction, and not enough for requirements. Common tea, if anything, dearer. Java: 4000 packages at auction. Tone very firm, nearly all grades being slightly dearer. Coffee.—There have only been small quantities in public auction this week. Prices for finer sorts were fully steady, but common coffees were rather in buyers' favour. Santos: Quiet after a considerable fluctuation, and about ls 3d lower for the week. Californian Fruits and Mediterranean Fruits. —There is no -change to report regarding the market conditions of these fruits. Linseed Oil.—This has again been slightly reduced by cablegrams received to-day. Pig Iron.—Reduced during the week by Is 6d to 2s per ton. Steel. —Evidently in sympathy with" the raw material, steel has declined in prices. Cement.—Shipments of '■Rhinoceros" brand have been disposed of at satisfactory prices. Sweet Sugar Corn. —A shipment of this new delicacy is now on the market
