NAVAL AFFAIRS.
« CANADIAN DEBATE. (By Cablo.—Press Aseociation. —Copj-rightJ (Received January 27th, JTO.uij p.m.) OTTAWA, January 26. Speaking in the naval debate in the Senate, Mj Bostock said that after following contribution as a naval policy for a few years, Australia finally abandoned it. Nobody accused Australia of disloyalty by thus acting, therefore* nobody ought to accuse Canadians, who desired thoir own Navy, of disloyalty. If the Empire were to be hdd together, the feeling of Australians and New Zeulanders ought to bo considered, and the whole question of Pacific defence taker up without delay. "DANGEROUS NONSENSE. -, (Received January 23th, 12.50 a.m.) LONDON, January 27. The- "Daily News" says the Admiralty thinks it has done itothmg improper in spending several millions which Parliament has not voted or. Cabinet approved. This is dangerous nonsense. The people are faced with a gravo violation of the Constitution when overexpenditure is allowed to run on for months without the responsible Minister drawing parliament's attention to it. It is useless for the Admiralty tc plead miscalculation.
