LORD DENMAN.
RESIGNATION REGRETTED. (By C*bl«.—Pjw» Ai>ioci»tion—Copyrights SYDNEY, January 27. The Press unanimously regrets Lord Densnan's resignation. Tho 'Herala" says that his placo will indeed bo difficult to fill. The tributes of public men eulogiso Lord Denman's courage in the face of physical disabilities in carrying out his arduous duties. It is regarded as specially unfortunate that c* successful an occupant of tho post should have been subjected to the shabby discourtesy and meanno&s associated with his eviction from Sydney Government House. LEAVING IN JUNE. (Received January 27th. 9.10 p.m.) MELBOURNE, January 27. Lord Denman leaves Australia in June. Mr Cook knows of no reason, excepting indifferent health, for Lord Denman's retirement. Ho does not believe that exclusion from Sydney Government House, has anything to do with it."
