LABOUR CONFERENCE.

LABOURITES REFUSED RECOGNITION. (By Cablo.—Press Association.—Coprright.) (Received January 27th, 6.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, January -7. Speaking at the Labour Conference, Mr Holznan declared that hot-headed firebrands who merely uttered protests of individual fooling must take a back scat, and men capable of guiding tho ship of State must come to the front. After a warm debate, tho Conference, by 92 votes to 4S, refused to recognise Mr Page, member for Botany, as a Labour member. Mr Page, who was ''turned down" by the party at tho last election, because of his refusal to support the Federal referenda proposals, won the seat against the Labour League's , nominee. Mr Holman strongly championed Mr Page, on tho ground that tho referenda had never been approved by the Conference of the Political Labour League, therefore- Labour merr.bers could not conii-icutionally be asked t«> support them. Mr Ptge had done no worse than himself, rind why not deal with him (Mr Holman) also? Mr J. C. Watson and others argued that the Conferences had repeatedly endorsed tfio referenda. Mr Page's attitude was different froni Mr Holman's, whose health was so bad that he had to go to London at that particular time. (Laughter.) Tho Conference declined to admit one delegate ho had allegedly "turned dog" on tho movement.
