* CANTERBURY CENTRE. The monthly meeting of the Canterbury Centre, Now Zealand Amateur Swimminjr Association, was held last evening, Mr W. E. U. Bishop (president) presiding over an .attendance of twenty-fivo delegates. The list of events and officials for the Kaiapoi Club's Carnival on February 14th wcro approved. . Tho Somerfielcl Club wrote, requesting the assistance- of the Centre in securing .information from the Club's late eecretary. 'It was decided that the Centre ehc-uld write to the late eecretary requesting him to meet tho exocutive of the Club. An application from Mr G. Eicli for permission to hold races in connexion with the Cantcrbuiy branch of tho Public Service, and to nllow members of the Service who aro meinbora of affiliated clubs to compete, was gTanted. ' The Sydenham Club wrote, protesting ogainst the re-handicapping of K. Kirk in the eemi-final of the Sydenham Inter-club Handicap. It was contended that as Kirk had already won his heat on his original handicap, he should not have been re-han-dicapped. Tho chairman explained that the rule 3 provided for re-hnndicapping in such a case, and the protest was dismissed. The Water Polo Committee reported that arrangements had been made for match<?s to bo held nt tho Tepid Baths at 5.30 on Monday evenings, commencing on tho 29th inst. Tho report wa? adopted. The Eest Ghristcburcb. Club was granted March Bth for its .annual carnival. The Tinwatd Club applied ior Thursday, February 26th. for. its carnival, and invited the Centre officers to 'x present. ' Tbe application was (agreed to, and the invitation accepted - *■ • The report of the executive vran adopted, and Jfr E. Eldridge was appointed manajrer of tho Canterbury team to compete nt the New Zealand championshfpa at Blenheim. In regard to a complaint by tho Richmond Club with r©3pect to a trophy, owing; to Mr E. Vclvin by tho Chri=tchurch Club for come considerable time, it was decided to write to tho latter Club, requesting that tho matter bo attended to immediately. Various challenge* were received in connexion with the representation of Canterbury at tho New Zealand championships, and it was rcso'ved that th* trials eliould be held at tho Richmond baths at 5.50 on Wednesday, Thursday, antT Friday.
