SYDNEY AERIAL DERBY.

(KIESS ASSOCIATION TELECBAM.) AUCKLAND, January 26. A cablegram on Saturday from oydney announced that Stone, of America, Jones of England, Hammond, of Neiy Zealand, and tenfold, of Australia, were expected to compete in the Aerial Derby at Sydney next month. This morning Mr J. J. Hammond stated that he had heard nothing about the Aerial Derby at Sydney, beyond wha*", he had .seen in the newspapers. Up to the present he had entertained no idea of going across to compete in any such event, but if an invitation were extended to him, he might consider it, providing satisfactory arrangements oould be arrived at. "With such a machine as the Dominion monoplane Britannia, I would have little difficulty in attaining a speed of about ninety miles an hour by shortening the wiug tips, and making one or two other little alterations. That would be quite as fast as any of the machines in Australia could accomplish," ho said. "As a matter of fact, 1 do not think there is a machine in Australia that could equal ths Britannia for speed."
