MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Alexander McLeod Scrimgeour, who appeared in Court with a bandaged head, pleaded guilty to a second offence of drunkenness. "You've made yourself a nice object," said the Magistrate. "I euppose that's part of the pleasure of being drunk. How did you do it?"
."I had a bit of an accident; fell against a post, and they put a few stitches in. Senior-Sergeant Mathieson stated that the accused's prohibition order had expired. "Convicted and discharged, and prohibited for twelve months," said the Magistrate. REMANDED. William Savili pleaded not guilty to a charge of drunkenness. Hβ was in a very ehaky condition, which he explained was due to his falling down and stunning himself. He had had some teeth out. The Magistrate: Oh! you were perfectly sober! - A constable stated that he arrested the accused in a drunken condition. Accused was remanded for a week. THEFT. K. Boyle, a young woman, pleaded guilty to thefts of purses, containing in money £12 and ten shillings respectively. Detective-Sergeant Cox said the young woman was a recent arrival. The jaurse containing the 10s had been taken from the cloab-room at the Addington Show Grounds on People's Day. The Magistrate adjourned tlie case to allow of the girl's friends to be present in Court. They undertook to give the girl a home, and to look after her, as well as to refund tho money. The Magistrate, on this understanding, convicted the accused, and ordered her to come up for sentence when called upon.
