ASHBURTON.
Charges of breaches of the Defence Act against R. M. Fisher, H. H. Gillespie, and W. R. Bremner, were dismissed, and adjourned in the case of W. L. Clarke. Charles Drummond, who did not appear, was charged with failing to send his two children to school regularly, and was fined os and costs on each charge. Willitm H. Robinson, for allowing a cow to stray, was ordered to pay 10s costs. For driving motor-cars at too great a soeed over the Ashburton traffic bridge, Matthew A. Tubman and Laura Bell were fined 40s and costs.- A similar charge against R. Norrish was adjourned for. a fortnight. For failing to keep a water-race clean Peter Shearer (Mr Kennedy) was fined 40s and costs on one charge, and convicted and <__ch_r£ed on a second, for cycling on ...- footpaths May Baker, Stanley Gourdio, and Edith M. Vincent, were ordered to pay costs, and May Smith was convicted and discharged. :■■' John Swanson applied for an order to be made against L. G. Burion for tbe payment of £3 15s 6d.
