CULVERDEN.
The residents of Culverden assembled recently to bid good-bye to Mr and Mrs H. R. Davison, who are leaving Culverden to take up their residence a. Hatfield. An enjoyable evening was spent, Mr Frank Travers acting as chairman. Songs were given by Mrs Jones, Messrs Graves. A. Smith, and J. Heasley. Messrs Travers, Heasley, Crampton, and Jones referred to the sterling qualities of the guests of the evening, and expressed regret at their leaving the district. The Culverden Territorials held a social on Tuesday night, when an enjoyable evening was spent. About SO couples were present. During the evening songs were given by Messrs Walker and Baker, and Mr Wade danced a sailor's hornpipe. Messrs A; Smith and G. Piper acted as M.C.'s. The monthly meeting of the Culverden School Committee was held on Monday. Present—Messrs- W. Dunstan (chairman), F. E. Croft, J. Heasley, H. A. Perm, J. JJutler. and W. Hare. Tho resignation of Mr H. R. Davison was received, and Mr W. A. Scaife- was elected in his stead. A "further month's leave was granted *to the mistress, Miss Chapman, on_account of sickness. It was decided to hold tee 'annual picnic and sports in the s Culverden Domain on Anniversary Day.
