RICCARTON v. WEST CHRISTCHURCH. • This game was in a very interesting state, the Westerners having made 247. to which Riccarton had started well with 108 for one wicket. The notouts Whitta with 65,' and E. R. Cayfill 19, resumed, and after 'taking the score to 154 Caygill was beaten by a <-ood ono from Crawshaw. Six runs later when Whitta was within one of his century he made a mis-hit, and was ca_-.it at "forward short leg. Norman was joined by Fuller and 200 were up before Fuller was caught. W. P. Guinev then assisted Norman to pass 'ho Western total, and the score was taken to 269 before Guiney was bowled off his pads. Harper helped to swell i the total to 292 before being bowled by Reese, and A. H. Guiney set up another partnership with Norman, the ncore be_.«. taken to 339 before Nor-m_n--_s caught at mid-off. Boulton did rot stay long, and the innings closed for 340 at 5.30. With a deficit of 93 Reese and Donnelly started West's second innings with three-quar-ter, of an hour to go. Reese hit up 3. out of 37, and was then magnificently caught on the boundary by Bam. CraSw assisted to take the score to ■7 when Donnelly was bowled. Moor then assisted Crawshaw to play out time.
