On resuming on Saturday Ea*t <&*£■ church had an uphill task, their opponents having scored 433 on the opening day. With, the score 64 for. two wickets, East, resumed.with the . not-, outs,, Beal (o3) and <■ Greenlees J6). Greenlees did not stay long, and Beal only added 16. Jones did not stay long, but Carlton and Ward added 33. The remaining, batsmen found Sandman all too good for them, and the innings closed at 4 o'clock for 163. East had to follow on, and opened with Beal and 'Carlton. The former was bowled with a'short one at 18, and _a little later Carlton was lbw.
