CASUALTIES.
WIDOW'S SUDDEN DEATH. Annie Elizabeth Clark, a widow, aged 52 years, who had been living with her married son, »• alter Charles Clark, of 20 Princess street, Lower Riccartoi'i, died suddenly yesterday She appeared to have been in good health lately and was sitting at dinner at ono o'clock, when she suddenly fell forward and expired in a few minutes. Dr. Thomas jun., was called, and pronounced life extinct. An inquest was held oy the Coroner, Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., last evening, Constable Pratt, of Addington, conducting the enquiry. Kate Clark, daurrhter-in-law of the deceased, gave evidence that the latter had not been ailing, never complained, and had not been attended by a doctor. She was sitting at +ii« taole at 1 p.m., when she suddenly fell forward unconscious, and was dead when Dr. Thomas arrived. ■,__■• Louisa Clark; deceased's daughter, gave similar evidence. Three years ago deceased had been in the Christchurch Hospital, and the doctor tnen said she had a very weak heart. She was sure the cause of death wa3 heart disease. The Coroner said he was satisfied as to the cause of death, and returned - a verdict that deceased died from heart disease.
. (PRESg ASSOCIATION TELEGRAMS.) WELLINGTON, November 24. -Simon Drydea, aged 87, living in retirement in Bidwill street, died suddenly in a Wallace street tramcar this afternoon. Heart failure is supposed to be tho cause of death.
' Frederick Jolly, aged 35, who only arrived.in Wellington on Sunday, having come out from Home in tho Turakina last week, jumped out of a second floor bedroom window at the People's Palace early this morning. A room mate saw Jolly in the act of getting out of the window, but was unable to reach him in time to stop his jump. Jolly's spine is fractured. He.lies in the Hospital in a precarious condition. BLENHEIM, November 24. An oil launch was found floating near Black Point, in the Marlborough Sounds, and on investigation by a constable the body of McCauley, a resident of Bulwer, was found at Picnic Bay. DUNEDIN, November 24. David Wing, a half-caste Chinaman, committed suicide at Balclutha by jumping off the traffic bridge into the Clutha river. Deceased was a market gardener, and a young man.
