BOROUGH COUNCILS.
. ♦ . LYTTELTON. The fortnightly meeting of the Lyttelton Borough Council was held last night. Present:—Mr J. R. Webb (Mayor), and Crs. J. Guthrie. W. Radcliffe, J. T. Norton, M. J. Miller, BY J. Page, J. H. Collins. G. R. Rich, N. C. Schumacher, and W. T. Foster. An application from the Te Whaka Hockey Club for the use of grounds al Diamond Harbour was referred to the Diamond Harbour Committee. A letter was received from Mr E. A. Radford, Rabb't Inspector, drawing attention to the fact that there were a number of rabbits on the Council's property at Diamond Harbour, and requesting that the Council have them destroyed. The matter was referred to the Diamond Harbour Committee. The Estates Committee reported that Mr C. Jamieson, the present occupier of the land recently acquired by the Council at Corsair Bay, had asked for a continuance of his present lease, which expires on January Ist. As a portion of the lnnd might ,be required at any time for planting or for other purposes, the committee recommended that Mr Jamieson be offered two acres and a half with the building, on a yearly tenancy of _Tlo per annum. The report was adopted. The financial statement showed the District Fund Account to be in debt £8492 14s Bd, including a debit of £6414 3s 6d on tem-po-ary loans. The Drainage Loan Account -howed a credit balance of £119 18s lid.
