Excluding Easter from last year's returns, the result was:—Cash' fare tickets increase, £8216; concession tickets decrease, £4437. Notwithstanding that change, the total number of passengerA carried increased by 160.742. Further satisfaction will be found in the fact that although the revenue and passengers increased, tho operating expenses decreased by £2262. The new 30-ride ticket, with' the withdrawal of tho old trip ticket, onJy affected the year's returns for a period of six weeka. Its effect on revenue would bo discussed later. ' CARNIVAL WEEK TRAFFIC. Tho cash receipts for the nine days covered by the Carnival holidays were £6679. as against £6463 last year. The j cash fare T>a-ssengors this year numbered 508,019 as against 489,604 last. I year. , ■ Notwithstanding the large number of passengers carried, the traffic arrangements worked smoothly. There was an absence of accident until tho last i trip from the racecourse on the last day, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of a foot by the victim. No blame could be attached to»the Board's employees. The Committee desires to congratulate the officers and etaff on the result of a strenuous week's work. On the motion of Mr Sykes, it was decided to convey the thanks of the Board to the police for the excellent regulation oi" traffic during carnival weuk.
