SOUTHBRIDGE CLuB. Tl» committee of the Southbridge Swimming Cltib met on Thursday, when Mr J. C. Free presided. A letter waa read from the Eon. R. Heaton Rhodes, accepting the position of patron of the club, and enclosing a donation of £1 Is to the funds.* In his letter Sir Rhodes stated that as there were, now a number of baths in the district, and that clubs had been formed in connexion with them, he would suggest that an Eilesmere Swimming Association ehcrald be formed, and that arrangements be mads £ot holding intei-club matches at the different baths, the dub winning the most points in these matches to be the champion oiub of the distnei-. Mr Rhodes further stated that if thfa suggestion found favour ■with swimmers in the disixict, and an association were formed, ho wouid be willing to present ft cup to be competed for annually, and to be hold for the jtar by the champion dub. It wae decided that the secretary ehou'.d be instructed to write -to the different chibs in the district, informing t-them of Mr Rhodes's suggestion, and asking them whether they would bo in favour of forming an ELksniere Swimming Association. It was decided to told a race efery second Wednesday, the first to be held on Wednesday, December 3rd. The following officials iw appointed to govern the races:— Jrklgee, M««ers C. H. Piper and E. G.
