RICCARTON-
There were present at a, meeting of the Rioceiton Road Board Meeera S. A. Staples (daiinnan). W. Boag, H. J. Derrett, J. EHanson mi Q. W. .Thames. Two of tfhe directors of the Central Dairy Company waited upon the Board with reference to tie road channel in front of dielr factory on the South Belt, and asked if anything could be Oone to improve it. - The deputation was informed that » reflation had been passed by the. Board agreeing to pay one-third of the cost of laying concrete channels m any of the roads in the district if the owners fronting on the roods paid the other twotSarde of the ooet, and the channelling was laid continuous to an outlet. The Board, advised the deputation to see if anything could be done in this direction, and in tbe ' meantime tbe Board would, endeavour to keep the channel m clean as passible. Cor- . respandepce was read from the Department 'of Justice, copy of ■warrant appointing' local bodies to have authority within liceneiag district*, the Biccarton Road Board to have control in the Riocarton district. Meagre J. Marriner and others petitioned the Board to erect a lamp at. tbe corner of tbe Lincoln and Torrent ro&de. The Boara decided to erect the lamp if the Spreydon Board agreed to pay halt the ooet. Toe notion atanding in the name of Mr Derrett to divide the district into ward* was further adjourned until next meeting. Mr Hanson agftin brought up the question of buying egga and heads, stating that it seemed folly to allow <ibe birde a free liand all the enmmer after the good work done during the winter. H«ura Hanson, Derrett, and the Chairman wire appointed to-wait upon the Council .at its next meeting to se» what c*n be done *Jα the matter. It was resolved that ilr John Evans, of Papaimi, be appointed cattle ranger for the dietrk*. The Chairman stated that he had been waited upon by a deputation of employees from the Addmgton Workehope, who asked tlbe Board to continue the bicycle path on the Lincoln rood to the corner of the West Belt, The cost would not be much, and the formation of Was path would be a great convenience to «X Workshop hands.
