ESTATE OF A. PARRIS.

The first meeting of creditors in the estate of Arthur Parris, of Springfield, saddler, was held yesterday. The bank pi's statement showed:—Unsecured crtiuuora £135 0-; 9d. made up as under—Secured creditors £43 11s lOd, less estimated value of securities £77, surplus to contra £55 8s 2d. Cr. books debts £40, estimated to produce £40; furniture in excess of allowance £12, surplus from securities in the bands of secured creditors £55 8s 2d, total £85 8s 2d; total deficiency £49 12s 7d. The unsecured creditors for amounts of £5 and over were:

-—R. Belcher (Ch'ristchurch) £61, Mason, Struthers and Co. (Christchurch) £35 0s 4d, —. Alford (Oxford East) £9 17s Bd, G. Montgomery (Ohrirt-church) £11 16s sd, and Craddock, Orr and Co. (Christchurch) £16 0s 4d. The secured creditors were:

—D.1.C., Christchurch, estimated value of security £17. amount of debt £17. and Butler Bros., Christchurch, estimated value of security £60, and amount of debt 11s 10d. In reply to questions, the bankrupt said that the 'book debt* liad been assigned on October 23rd. Hβ had collected a good many of the debts, the money for which he had remitted to Mr Beswick. About £40 was due to him beyond the assigned book debts. His trade averaged about £18 or £20 per month. Hβ had co— watches and other goods for Mr Alford on oommifleion. He cold in his own name. When he sold them he entered. the amount in the book. That was the amount he had put down in Ms statement. • About £13 of the £40, which he estimated as the book debts, was for watches and jewellery sold by him for Mr Alford. There was some £10 due to him on account of the watches, etc ihere waa some £2 due on the piano, which had been bought by his father-in-law. The sewing machine was given 'to his wife by her mother on her wedding day. He had nothinff in the Post Office Savings Bank jwhen he commenced business. He paid in £20 a month after be took over fcho business- He had no money when he started at Springfield, expecting to make money enough out of the business. It <vras resolved that the bankrupt should make up an amended statement of accounts I for submission to the Assignee.
