NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
The trial of the latest improved Osbome reaper and binder will take place on Mr Bhinden'fl farm at Bennetts to-day, at 11 a.m. The altered times for to-day of the evening traias for Waikari, Bennette, Oxford, kprintrtuud, Whitecliffs. Ashburton, and Metbven appaar elsewhere. The* Executive of the Harvest Festml, projected by the Canterbury A. and P. Association, will meet at 3 p.m. to-day. The polling for two members of the Lyttelton, Harbour Board, to represent the l/hamber of Commerce, will take place to-day, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The candidates are Messrs Albert Kaye, R. M. .Macdonald, and Isaac Gibbs. Mr Kaye and Mr Gibbs aro the retiring members. The polling for one member t« represent Lyttelton on the Board will also be held today at Lyttelton, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.nL. The candidates ai-e Messrs F. H. Jiarns (of Kinaey, Barns and Co.) and W. Whitby. Captain McClatchie, the retiring member, declined to be re-nominated. Tlie nomination of candidates for the vacancy on the Board of Governors of Cantei-buty College, in. the place of ilr T. S. Weston, resigned, close at noon today. The election will be by the school teachers of the district on the roll. The St. Albans Fire Brigade acknowledges with bhuaiks the receipt of £5 from Mr C. W. Turner.
Mr Smith, Fire Brigade Superintendent,
has received a cheque for £3 3e in aid of the funds of the Brigade from Mr H. G. Sheppard as an acknowledgment of the good work done at the recent fire in Tuam street.
