The monthly market wasjield at Kirwee r,n Friday, wlien thoie 'war-an entry of 4240 Pheep and lamb-j, nearly 2000 of which were in the fat jh-b*, about half being fat lambs. The fat sheep were chiefly Tight weights, and in rnnaJl, odd lots. The yarding of stores was composed chiefly ofrape lambs and crossbred wethers, the entry of owts being limited to three or four einall lots. The attendance, was fa:r, both of farmers and deakr*. and bidiiing was good for all classes. Messrs Mats»a and Co. held a land sale on Saturday, when several city properties were offered. These included the block in Lower Hiffh street next to Mr Knight, butcher. .Lot 1, li> feet frontage to High street, wag passed at £950. Lot 2, same frontage, was passed at £955. Lot 3, 15 feet irontage with building occupied by the Messrs Adams and Co.'s Sun Cycle Depot, passed at £1025. Lot 4, 22 feet_frontage to High street, with «hop occupied by Messrs Wells and Co., passed at £1300. Lot 5, occupied by -«.aine Broe.. with 46 feet frontage to High street, 21 feet to Tuani street, and 86 feet to I'opiar street, the rental amount ng to £208 per annum, passed in at £3500 A secuon of nearly a quarter of an acre fronting on Manchester street, was paseed at, £960. A farm at Halswell of 260 acre* wa« passed in. at £6 5s per acre. Mr Keliv'a farm at Swannanoa of 780 acres, under the Brown Estate Trust, was eoJd at £9 6s 6d per acre to Mr V. Wright.
