RAM FAIR.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) PALMERSTON NORTH, February 6. The Pd-nerston North Ram Fair was fairly successful, notwithstanding the bod weather. Over two thousand passed under the h-wr-arer, a considerable increase on last year. There was a good attendance of buyers and hreedere from afll ports of the colony were represented in the catalogue. Litfooins were a drug, and surprise was expressed at the poor prices realised. Some of Hive finest flock sheep seen in Paimerston sold p.t 2 to 4j}g?. The highest, price realised was for a stud Lincoln, 9_gs.. One hreed by Mr Wyhousrne, Waverley, viz., Romneys, sold remarkably well, and the supply was not equal to the demand. English Leicesters excited wretched competition ; the quality was ■poor, and there were no buyers. There was one exception, and a (reoc-rd price was paid by Mr Lancaster, a looa_. breeder, for a stud English Leicester bred by Messrs Little B"os., Oamaru, the ram going at 21gs, after keen competition. It is considered the best two-tooth ram of the breed ever seen in the North Island. Stud Romneys made 2\ to sgs, flock 7s 6d to 6gs, stud Lincolns lj to 9£gs, flock lg to 4|gs, stud Southdowns sjgs to 7gs, flock sgs to 72gs, stud Shropshires (one sold) sgs, flock 2_gs to sgs, stud Border Leicester* 7_gs to B_g.', flock to B_gs, stud English Leicesters (one) 21gs, flock to s}gs, crossbreds 12s 6d to 2_gs. A good number of lines were passed in.
