SOUTH AFRICAN MILITARY CONTRACTS.
STATEMENT BY THE COLONIAL OFFICE.
United Press Association—By Eleotno Telegraph—Copyright. (Received February 6th, 10.42 a.m.) MELBOURNE, February 6. In reply to representations on the subject, Sir E. Barton has received a communication from fthe Colonial Office stating that tho LnperM Government has every intention of carrying out, in spirit and to the letter, the promise made to the Imperial Cord-ret-co in regard to South African military contracts. The communication added: —"In the new South African meat contracts, as well as the contracts aheady made, it was a condition that the supplies should, if possible, be obtained from Imperial sources."
