General Alcandra defeated the Venezuelan insurgents at C&matagua, captuiing 250 men and 40,000 cartridges. The bakeries ait Caracas are closed, owing to the want of flour. Biscuits axe unobtainable.
Conversing with £aron Sternberg, tlie recently-appointed German Minister to the United States, President Roosevelt emphasised the necessity of raising the Venezuelan blockade at the earliest possible moment.
