A PARTIAL HEARING.
Walker and Co. (Mr Mnliey) sued James Lee (Mr Johnston) for £76 18s 7d. The case arose out of business transactions between the plaintiffs, who are auctioneer*!, and the defendant, who i» a livery stable keeper. Mr Johnston, for the defendant, asked for an adjournment as his client had issued a counter summons. Hie client admitted owing £34 2s, and the Magistrate adjourned the oatse, bo that both actions oould be heard together, on condition that the defendant paid the sum of £34 2s into Court to-day, to abide the result of the action; if not the present case would be resumed on Monday. The evidence of Sydney Paul Organ, Jerk to Walker and Co., was taken, as the witness was leaving for the West Coast. His evidence dealt •with conversations between the plakitiffs and defendant regarding the various items claimed. ''
