NAVAL TRAINING SHIPS.
ADMIKAL BEAUMONT'S VIEWS.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) AUCKLAND, January 25. A deputation of the Royal Naval and Rcyal Marine Association had an interview with Admiral Beaumont on board the Sierra, and discussed the need of tho establishment at the principal colonial porta of naval training ehdps, co that the nucleus of a marine population might bo formed.
The Admiral said he cordially agreed with the proposal, and would bring the subject before the proper authorities on his arrival in KngUuid. The admittance vi colonial youths into the navy as agree! upon at the reecnt Conference, of colonial Premiers would do something to remove the bar which the- stringent merchant ehippiag laws of this colony presented to tne em ployment of youtlis on the sea., but he realised that the establishment of training ships might be of great additional service. He pointed out that the Pylad€s, now on the' station, might answer the purpose temporarily, pending the preparation of suitable vessel* which might otherwise cause considerable delay.
