CALEDONIAN CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.
(fbsss association telegram.) WANGANUI, January 23. The Championship Meeting was continued <o-day in fine weather. There was a good attendance. Following were the results: — 22Oyde Ch&mpioijehip—L. J. Furri© 1, F. Somere 2, E. X. Brandon 3. The only st*rtere. Furrie got away quickly, and had a lead of about ten y*rde when entering the straight. Thi» he maintained with the greatest ease until the tape we* touched; a yard E«eparaed the second *nd third man. Time, 24aec. One Mile Cycle Handicap—First heat: W. E. D. CkTkson (acr) 1, EL. Lloyd (80yda) 2, M. Brnnette (15yda) 3. Seven etarted. A splendid race for the last lap. Clarkson, -who had got among toe flret three when the bell rang, raced to the front, aad by a splendid eprint had gained a good lead on entering the straight. He won by about ten lengths,. liloyd and Brunette bems close together for second and i'hird places respectively. Time, 2min 22eec. Second her.t : F. Xattrrss (scr) 1, A. W. Humphries (lOyde) 2, E. A.
