In the course of 'hU speech, the Mayor congratulated Mr Schadich, engineer of 'the waterworks, on the success of hie effortß, and added that he intended to invite the local agents of the fire insurance companies to a public trial of fire extinguishing appliances, and hoped it would result in a reduction of the insurance rate by one-half.
