- THE CAMEL TRANSPORT.

A thousand camels are being landed at Obbia in connection with the Somaliland Expedition. Obbia, which, as mentioned in the above tel<-gr_ia, is in Italian Somaliland, possesses very great advantages as a base from which the operations against the Mullah may be conducted. It is situated on the ( coast of the Indian Ocean, and it is about 1000 miks by sea from Berbera. No doubt'the main attraction to the military authorities in making it the base lies in the fact that from Obbia to the Mudug district, wbere the Mullah has been located, and Gorrari, where the British have established a strong observation post, is only some 130 miles marching distance, whereas the route from Berbera is about 320 miles in length, the intervening country being mostly water-
