The St&te Government entertained the visiting Boer delegates. The Premier and the delegates mode complimentary speeches. DANGEROUS LOVERS. A previous sweetheart of Kate Abeam-? is serving a sentence for attempting to murder her. as he inflicted a wound in her throat. [A Sydney cable message published this morning says:—A tragedy occurred at Moree. A youth named Horace Ezzy, objecting to his sweetheart, Kate Ahearn, going to a party, became incensed at her insisting, and attempted to cut her throat, inflicting a slight wound. He then fatally cut his own throat.] DROWNED IN A VAT OF STOUT. (Received January 22nd, 1 a.m.) ADELAIDE, January 21. A cellarman named Castle was drowned in a vat of stout at the Walkerville brewery. It is supposed he was overcome by the fumes while testing the liquor. A WORLD'S SWIMMING RECORD. SYDNEY, January 21. R. Cavill, at the Newcastle baths, swam 120 yards in lmin 12 l-10th see, a world's record.
