LINWOOD.
An ordinary meeting of the Limvood Borough Council was held on Monday, when th-e Mayor (Mr H- Pearce) and Crs." Otley, Brunt, Young, Janrieson, Wagstaff, Seed, Cleworth| Robertson, Brown, Denton, Dixon, and Schumacher were present. A deputation wa* received asking for the replacement of a certain channel in Ollivier's load. The matter was referred to the Works Committee. The Chief Engineer of Roads wrote enclosing the Commissioner's award concerning the division of expenses for the upkeep of Ferry road. It was explained thiit tJie award could 1 rot be enforced without further legislation. The Council duiidvd to Li.l in with the flther boroughs, and pay its, 40 per cent, in accordance with the award. Accounts were passed for payment to the amount of £389 11s 5d on the genera!, and £213 14s lid on the loan account. The Finance Committee reported as follows:—Receipts—General account, £1056 6s 10d; loan account, £69 17s 3d. Bank balance—General account, debit, £836 Us sd; outstanding cheques, debit, £16 9s lid; deposit at call, debit, £170; public works loan account, credit, £203 14s 8(1; Recreation Ground loan account, £81 7s. It was stated that the Drainage Board had arranged to take up £2000 of the pubic works loan debenture*. Hue report was adopted. The Works Committee's report, -also adopted, stated that drains of kerb and channel had been constructed this season, leaving 433 chains still to do- ' Ollivier's road had been widened at the north end, near Tuam street. A supply of tar had been obtained, and the tarring of footpaths was being proceeded with. Mr H. T. Hookham's tender had betn accepted for dog collars.
