A d:pututiot introduced by Mr J. H. Paiker waited upon the Council with reference to the .Saturday half-holiday question, a lvport of which appears elsewhere. Tlri Linwood Boi<»ugh Council wrote declining to accept the offer of the [Sydenham borough to allow its nrv brigade to attend tires within a certain radius in the Linwood district at a cost of £10 per fire. The letter was received. The Mayor of Christehureh wrote inviting the Mayor and councillors of Sydenham to attend a, public meeting at the Canterbury Hall at 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The letter waa received. Crs. Hadneld ajid Parsons wished their names recorded as being against the resolution. Cr. Parsons said he thought the resolution an insult. Cr. Bowden said if the resolution had contained any insult the Mayor would not have put it. "A letter from "the Department of Koadj with reference to th£ apportionment of cost of upkeep of the Ferry road waa received. The Finance Coanmittee,reported receipts for the past fortnight £668 13s 3d, and recommended payment of accounts amounting to £3207 15s lid. The loan account was £3879 8s in credit, and the general account £5575 18s 7d in <kbit. - The report, was adopted.
