There was a fairly large entry of stock in the yards, and a good attendance. Prices in rnoet sections were inclined to be easier.

In the store sheep yards there was an entry of 5519, the greater part of which ■wore lambs. There was only one line of wethezs, and a few lines of ewee, mostly young. There was & considerable drop 'n the iprice of lambs, owing to the number on offer and the easing of values for fats. The chief sales were:—so 4 lambs 11s lid, 204 at 10s 7d, 168 at 10s 4d, 150 at 10s Id, 118 at 10s, 195 at 9s lid, 218 at 9s 6d, 213, at 9a, 131 at 8s 10d, and 123 at 8s sd; 189 two-todth wethers 14s lid, 98 ewes 13s 9d, 260 at 13s Bd, 237 at 13s 3d, and 204 at 10s 6d, 219 ewee and lambs 9s 4d all counted. There was an entry of 3000 fat lambs, and the quality siiowed an improvement over the iaet week or two. The export buyers further reduced their limits, and pnoes all round were considerably easier, it i» reported that information ihas 'been received that large forward sales have been made in London at 5d for February, down to 4jd per lb c.i.f. for April delivery, and true affected the local buyers' operations. There were 1756 lambs bought for export at 12a 5d to 15s 6d, 435 were taken by butchers at 10s 3d to 15a 2d, and one csltra pen ait 16s 2d, and 617 were passed as 10s od. to 13s. 9d. Jackman, 35 at 14s 7d; Mr M. Ryan, Halsweil, 26 at 14s 3d; Mr W. Gilmour, Greenpark, 68 at 13s to 14s 2d; Mr R. W. Lockhead, Lincoln, 42 at 14a; Mr C. J. The yarding of fat sheep was a. medium one, and a fair proportion was of prime quality. The export buyers operated very cautiously, and the want of compet&tion caused a slight decline in all olasees. Heavy(weight wethers made 19s 7d, prime freezer's 17s 6d to 19s 2d, lighter 15s 10d to'l7s, freezing ewee 15a 8d to 18g, beat butchers' ewee 16s to 18a Id, others 12s to 15s 6d. The following were the chief sales: —Mr J. Sowden, Dunsandel, 795 -wethers, 18s 6d to 19s 7d; Mr J. Little, MontserraA, 269 -wethen 18b 10d to 19s 2d, 32 ewes 15s 4d; Mr S. Nut*, Little River, 120 wethers, 17s 4d> to 18s 10d; Mr W. Parkiiuson, Kaifcuna, 69 wethers, 16s lid to 18b 9d; Mr D. Oameron, Springfield, 240 ewee, 15s 6d to los 6d; Messrs Westenra Bros., Dußsandel, 55 ewes, 16s 8d to 18s Id; Mr \V. Chamberlain, Leeston, 60 ewes, 17e 3d to 18a; Mr J. Holmes, Viewmont, 29 ewes, ills 4d to 18s Id; Mr P. Acton-Adams, Norwood, 71 wethers, 17s 4<l to 18s; Leeston client, 52 wethers, 17s 6d; ■Mγ J. Keltic, Coalgaite, 50 ewee, 15s to 17s 3d; Mr W. S. Armstrong, Broadfieids, 55 ewes, 16s 8d to 16s lid; Messrs Birdling Bros., Lansdowne, 62 ewee, 16s 3d to 16s sd; Mr J. Coup, Little River, 57 madden «wes, 15s 7d to 16s 6d; 63 ewes, 14s 9d to 15s 2d; Messrs Waghorn Bros., Little Akaloa, 196 wethers and ewes, 15s 10d; <i. G. Hokiee, Holmsleigh, 115 ewes, 15s to 15s 10d; Mr B. Benningtbn, Broadfields, 45 ewes, 13s 9d to 15s 9d ; Waipara client, 60 owes, 14s 9d to 15s 9d; Mr T. Seay, Kirwee, 71 ewes, 14s 6d to 15s 4d." In the fat cattle pens there -was aa entry of 168 lead, mcluding several consignments of really good steers. Competition was not brisk, and prices showed a decline of Iβ to 2s per 1001b on late rates. A line of 11 steers from Mr G. G. Holmes, Pigeon Bay, made £10 15s to £13 2s 6d; other steers £9 to £11 7» 6d, heifere £6 to £9 10e, and cows £5 17s 6d to £9 lOe, equal to 26s to 28s per 100 ib. There was a fair demand for store cattle, and a moderate mixed entry was disposed cf at the foUowirg prices: —Yearlings 325, fifteen to eighteen months £2 18s to £3 14s, two-year steers £2 18s to £3 14s, two-y«ar heifers £4 10s to £4 18s 6d, thre*-vear heifers £6 10e, dry cowg £2 10* to £5 10s, and forward £5 15s to £6. There was a fair entry of pigs, and there being less competition fate were easier, but stores cold fully up to last iveek's rates. Baconers made 40s to 55e 6d (equal to 4£d to 5d per lb), porkers 30s to 38s (equal to 5d to s£d per lb), large stores 22s 6d to 30s, medium 16s 6d to 21s, and suckers and weanere 10s to 16s.
