MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
JUDGMENTS FOR PLAINTIFFS. ' Mr R. Beetham, S.M., gave judgment at the Magistrate's Court yesterday in the following civil cases, for the plaintiffs, there being no np]K\irance of the defendants: — Black, Bea-ttie and Co. (Mr Widdowson) v Henry Williams, claim £2 4e 6d; same v F. j" Prouting, claim £4 14s 6d; same v George Burney, claim £3 13s Hd; same v H. N. Carratti, claim £4 8a 9d; same v George Thompson, claim £2 16s sd; came v A. Bremner, claim £5 17s 3d; same v L. Worthington, claim £17 Sβ 8d; Asnby, Bergh and Co. v James Grant, claim £5 10s Bd. MAINI^NANCE. In the c«ise Emily L. Larcombe v Jane Birss, claim £6 7s 6d for maintenance, judgment was given for £4 17a 6d, tbe plaintifi having received tlie difference. A DISPUTED CLAIM. Some time ago Reginald Fenerty, accompanied by his wife, called on Paton and Macdoufjall, and the husband ordered certain wall papers, his wife choosing them. The papers were for the purpose of "doing up" the front room of their residence; other work in connection with the house was also ordered. Mrs Fenerty understood that her husband meant to bear the expense of the work as a birthday pre.'sent. The work was done, and Fenerty duly received an account for the cost. In the meantime he had been separated from his wife, who ie taking proceedings in divorce, and lie forwarded the-bill to her, which, she refused to pay. Paton and Macdougall proceeded against Mrs Fenerty for tbe amount of the bill, £18 8e 9d, Mr Ritchie appearing for the plaintiffs and Mr Creswell for the defendant. After hearing evidence judgment was given for the defendant..
