BOARD OF CONSERVATORS.
The Board of Conservators of the North, Waimakariri met yesterday, when Mr R. W. England, een., occupied the chair. Mr Peryman moved, and it was agreed, that the Hoard welcome their Chairman Mr R. W. England, on his return from his tour, and that he be requested to tuke the chair for another year. The Chairman thanked the members of the Board for their expression of confidence and welcome. The mport of the overseer was read and adopted. It. was agreed to write to the County Council, asking th«m to pay the rent for the time the water-race was under construction. The tender for the supply of cement of Messrs Horsley and Co. was accepted. A letter was received from the Government, stating that they were not, prepared to accede to the request of the Board to prevent the Selwyn County Council putting water-races through a portion of the Board's le.serves. Mr Samuels said that the Government had not dealt with the principal question, which was that the Selwyn County Council proposed to put the water-race behind the groyne o£ the Board. It was resolved that the Board grant extension of !ea<«e of seven years for the iille range of the Wainiakai'iri Mounted Rifles. Accounts to the amount of £137 10k 2il were passed for payment.
