TEMUKA FLOWER SHOW.
On Thursday evening the, annual show Jn connection with the Temuka, Floral and Society was held, and waa attended by a large number of peiwaw, particularly in the evening, when the BrillShed and "its 'annexe, the Volunteer Hall, were filled almost to overflowing.. Owing to the unfatourable season, and to ths fact thai a-eavyrain fell on the u*ox_i_g/ of the show the entries* were below those of previous years. Mr H, Somtneryille was the most successful competitor in pot plants in the class open to oil gardener*. He secured 20 points, against Mr J. HolwellV 1?. In the same dass, cut flowers. Mr F. Saunders was first with 19 points, and in fruit he shared equal honours with Mr W- H. Scott. In veptahles, Mr Q. Levees, with a score of 2Sf-pc_its, was a good first. In Class a (amateurs only), Mr J HolweH led in pot plants with 44 points. In cut flowers Mr Jas. Dow was first, defeating Mr HolweH by one point, the numbers being 20 and 19 wsspectively, Mr Qoy being third with 12 points. In fruits, Mr X Ande-son came first, defeating) Mrs Palliier by one point. Mr Levw___ carried off the honowrs in .vegetables with 27 points, Messrs HolweH and. J. Bennett being equal for first place. The officials all worked hard, especially the -wewtary, Mr Q. lUchardeon, The judges, whose decisions in every instance gave satisfaction, were:--M«»rs Bealey (Ashburton), and Jones (Christehurch), cut flowers; Mr Buxton fSfc. Martin's, ChrSstotaircb), vegetables • Mr Barford (Timaru), cookery j Mr Sterodale, paintings and drawings; and. Mrs Hay sad Jliee Wray, sewing and fancy work.
