HUNDRED MTLF, RELAY RECORD.
Another attempt was made by the members oi the Christchnrcte Cycling Club on Saturday to lower the. 100 mile relay race -record put up by the-Qtago Cycling .Club. A course -was chosen from Woodend to Leithfield, and a very early start was made. The same team competed, that started oh Thursday last, and the recoru' was successfully lowered by ?smia 13sec The Otago C.C. time was 4hra 34min 43sec, and the time on Saturday was 4hrs 29min 30sec. If was decided, in fairness to the. men, some of whom had to ride against tne wind, not to.publish the individual times.. The pacing was excellently carried out, especially thatdone by Kaiapoi riders. The course is sup- : posed to be slightly over ten miles, and the men had to ride through a stream on the road; The times of toe first pairs were not quite so good as the later ones, owing to it being a very; early hour and a frosty morning. It was bitterly cold.
At. a special meeting of the Geraldine Cycling Club it was resolved to sever connection with the Alliance and join the League of Wheelmen. A number of cycling men assembled on the railway station,.platform, on Saturday night to say farewell to the Christchurch cycling representatives on their way to the first of the New Zealand League of Wheelmen circuit race meetings, which will be held at Auckland this week. The League officials included Mr W. E. Thompson, the Chairman of the Executive, and the competitors included Sutherland, Barker, Wall and Price; ■
